A former royal residence dating from the 17th century, this grand hotel across from the Jardin des Tuileries features a truly stunning private garden courtyard and a newly opened spa and fitness center with indoor pool. Completely buffered from the noise of the busy Rue de Rivoli, the hotel’s 196 air conditioned guest rooms are decorated in cherry-wood Louis-Philippe furnishings and warm colors, with modem Internet access, satellite TV, pay movies, minibar, in-room safe, large desk and abundant closet space.
The modern bathrooms have a second phone and combined shower/bathtub. The hotel is actually made up of five buildings, the oldest being the Château, which overlooks the garden courtyard. The hotel has a restaurant and a laid-back lounge bar, and in warmer weather there are tables set up on the garden patio for breakfast al fresco. the St. James & Albany hotel is grand without being stuffy, and is ideally located within five minutes of the Louvre, St-Germain-des-Prés, and the Champs-Elysées.
